Kulprammen is an ongoing project in the former industrial harbour of Kalkbrænderihavnen in Nordhavn. It serves as an extension of THE KRANE, the hotel built into one of the harbour's former cranes.
Where THE KRANE reimagines the former coal crane as an exclusive hotel, spa and event space, Kulprammen draws inspiration from the vessels the crane once served: the barges that carried coal into the harbour. The building takes on the same long, slender silhouette as these barges, positioned alongside the harbour promenade. Its dark exterior recalls the coal once handled here, while inside, the material palette shifts to something warmer, offering shelter from the sometimes rough weather.
The floating structure is organised across two levels: Hotel rooms sit at the waterline and the upper deck serves as reception and café.
